INAUGURAL RADIO: Tuesday's radio show was scheduled to begin at noon, just as Barack Obama was to be sworn in as president of the United States. So at the beginning of the program, I announced that we were going to cut away to the ceremony. Then I started playing a recording of one of George W. Bush's inaugurations, made horrified noises, and segued into the Kinks' "Do It Again."The effect was somewhat blunted by the fact that the prerecorded show before mine ran a few minutes long, so it wasn't actually noon when I did this. Dammit. Here's the full playlist:The Kinks: Do It AgainX: The New WorldSteve Earle: Christmas in WashingtonBob Dylan: This Land Is Your LandBob Dylan & The Band: Baby Let Me Follow You DownJames Brown: Funky PresidentSharon Jones and the Dap-Kings: Give Me a ChanceTony Joe White: Soul FranciscoMaria Bethania & Gal Costa: Sonho MeuVum Vum: SalaléAntibalas: World War IVThe Ohio Players: FireTower of Power: Back on the Streets AgainDevo: (I Can't Get No) SatisfactionGraham Parker: You Can't Be Too StrongMichelle Shocked & Alison Krauss: Prodigal DaughterLoretta Lynn: The Pillk.d. lang: Didn't ICharlie Daniels: Uneasy RiderJim and Jesse: Diesel On My TailAlejandro Escovedo: California BluesNirvana: Lake of FireThe Rolling Stones: Stray Cat BluesThe Blind Boys of Alabama & Robert Randolph: Wade in the WaterThe Blind Boys of Alabama: Lift Me Up (Like a Dove)Solomon Burke & The Blind Boys of Alabama: None of Us Are FreeTaj Mahal: Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Steal My JellyrollMac Wiseman: In the PinesThe Hot Club of Cowtown: You Can't Take It With YouAmos Lee: Supply and DemandJimmy Cliff: The Harder They ComeSesame Street: C is for Cookie (Disco)Roxy Music: AmazonaPulp: Common PeopleRick Rock: (I'm A Lookin' For A) SputnikThey Might Be Giants: Why Does the Sun Shine? The Light Crust Doughboys: Here Pussy PussyMike Nichols and Elaine May: Cocktail PianoThe Velvet Underground: I'm Sticking With YouStevie Wonder: Too HighHenry Cow: Nirvana for MiceTom Zé: O Olho Do Lago Bob Dylan: Wigwam posted by Jesse 3:41 PM . . .
