THE TOURING FOREST: For 12 years now I've been championing the movies of Antero Alli, a talented director whose pictures aren't underrated so much as they're unknown. I first wrote about his work in a
1996 article for Reason, revisited him in 2001, and reviewed some of his subsequent efforts for Mindjack. He has kindly sent me his latest movie, an Artaud tribute called The Invisible Forest, and I hope to write about it soon -- thus far, professional and personal commitments have kept me from setting aside the time to watch it with the care it deserves.

In the meantime, he's taking the picture on tour. If you'd like to catch a screening and maybe ask the filmmaker a question afterwards, here's the schedule:

* June 5, 9 pm at DIVA Center, Eugene, Oregon
* June 6, 9:30 pm at Hollywood Theatre, Portland, Oregon
* June 15, 2 pm at NW Film Forum, Seattle, Washington
* June 18, 8:30 pm at Pickford Cinema, Bellingham, Washington
* June 27, 7 pm at Shiny Object, Sacramento, California

The movie is also available on DVD, but if you're able to watch it on a big screen, you should take the opportunity.
