STAY CALM -- THE WORLD IS ENDING: Is there going to be another attack today? Who knows? I read in the paper this morning that "Bush and Ashcroft said" -- apparently, they've started a choir -- that intelligence agencies "had detected additional information that is 'very consistent' with what was picked up before the attacks last Sept. 11." Don't let that worry you, though: "Officials" still "urge" us to "stick to routines."

I wish they hadn't printed that last bit. Some neighborhood thief broke into my girlfriend's car this morning, plus at least five more vehicles on our street. I would've preferred it if he'd been cowering at home.

More from the president: "We have no specific threat to America, but we're taking everything seriously." I love this man. No, really. Everything he says sounds like a Zen koan or an acid revelation. You can ponder his words for hours, and you'll never quite make sense of them, but maybe, just maybe, you'll attain enlightenment.
